A Brief Word About Lasers

Laser treatment is the perfect modern choice for enhancing the appearance of the skin. Lasers have been around for about 35 years, but the last decade has seen a tremendous leap in technology with the use of computers, which means that lasers are now much safer, accurate and minimally invasive.

The principal on which most lasers work is that a beam of light passes through the skin without damaging the surface and selectively takes out the required target, whether it be blood vessels, abnormal pigment, tattoos, unwanted hair, etc.

The ablative lasers (Erbium and CO2) use wavelengths which are absorbed by water. This enables tiny layers of skin to be safely vapourised away, smoothing wrinkles and scars.

Newer technology involves the use of the Erbium FRAXEL laser and the Carbon dioxide FRAXEL laser for the treatment of sun damage, ageing and acne scars. The difference between these lasers and the ablative lasers is that the FRAXEL resurfacing lasers spare much of the skin surface allowing healing to occur much more quickly and without as much swelling and discomfort.

Our clinic has the very latest, safest, state-of-the-art lasers presently available in the world, offering the highest standards in laser treatment.

Intense Pulsed Light

The 2nd Generation Intense Pulsed Light treatment (I2PL) works by using flashes of a spectrum of visible light, directed into the surface of the skin.

The light is specially filtered, it targets only certain natural pigments that are found in diffuse redness and age spots caused by long-term sun exposure. One of the pigments targeted is melanin, found in the age spots. The second target pigment is haemoglobin, found in the blood vessels that cause diffuse redness.

Following treatment with the I2PL your skin is fresher, smoother and healthier looking. Unlike some other treatment methods, this treatment is minimally invasive and has a short recovery time. For more information see Sun Damage.
